- I have taught yoga, dance, somatic modalities, and creative movement approaches in a wide variety of educational and community settings here and abroad. Students and clients have included able-bodied people, people with physical and cognitive disabilities (temporary and ongoing), cancer survivors, people with chronic pain, and ‘at risk’ populations from children through adults. On the faculty of Cabrillo College 2003, I also currently teach students with additional support needs for the Adaptive Yoga Project at Kid Quest, as well as independently offering private yoga therapy sessions and classes, dance improvisation classes, and workshops for movers over 50 for NextStage. In September 2016 I began teaching classes for people living with Parkinson's and other mobility limitations at Dominican Hospital's PEP program. From 1988-1995, I lived and worked at the Findhorn Foundation, an international education center in Scotland based on the core beliefs underlying the world’s main spiritual traditions. While there, I facilitated numerous workshops that included movement, meditation, guided imagery and other practices to support personal and spiritual development. My primary professional qualifications include: Certified Yoga Therapist, Inner Peace Yoga Therapy, Durango, CO*; RYT 500 (Mount Madonna Institute, Watsonville, CA and Yogadurango, CO); Diploma in Counseling and Therapy, The Psychosynthesis and Education Trust, London, England; MFA in Dance, Arizona State University; MS in Kinesiology and BA in Dance, UCLA. I have also studied Non-violent Communication in depth with NVC Santa Cruz, as well as completing trainings with the Prison Yoga Project; with Pacific Movement Center as a Pilates Matwork teacher and am a Master Mentor with the Academy for College Excellence (ACE) program for under-prepared students. * “The yoga therapy components of my teaching are based on certification by Inner Peace Yoga Therapy, not derived from my status as an RYT with Yoga Alliance Registry.”
